Mobile Number Portability in Pakistan

Posted by The Patri0t 25 March, 2007 | (10) Comment

MNP (Mobile Number Portability) has arrived in Pakistan? I don’t see where it is. I read in a news paper it will start after 25th March and now on Internet I find out it has already started on 23rd March? If it has then why do I not see any thing related to MNP on Mobile Network’s Websites? I have only sighted MNP related FAQ procedure and request form on Instaphone’s website! I guess all Networks will have the same FAQs so take a look at it…

Mobile Number Portability – Instaphone

I have been waiting desperately for this to arrive since I am using Ufone right now and frankly speaking it’s a messy service. I can count more than 20 sometimes while trying to REDIAL a number or sending an SMS since their systems capacity does not seem to hold the number of users they have. MNP will surely make all of the Companies such as Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor, Warid and Instaphone to upgrade their system capacity plus offer good rates too. (Which reminds me there’s a User Awareness Alert, which is a pop up AD actually, issued on PTA’s Website, better check that out!)

A few of FAQs which I have been interested in knowing ever since I heard about MNP arriving to Pakistan are as under;

Q.12 Porting Fee = Standard pricing for new connection
Q.13 How long will it take = 4 working days – excluding hold time – HMM, HOLD TIME???
Q.24 How often can I port = Gotta wait for 60 days!
Q.30 As said in this Q, better reach a ZERO on your Prepaid before porting. (In my case use the SMS offer ASAP).

I think I will not be able to avail this feature YET since I gotta change the address of my Ufone connection and it says it won’t happen if a change of address/name request has been filed or happened in last 60 days.

Good luck to all those who try this. Please post your comments. Thanks! :)

Damn you! – He’s our Chief Justice……

Posted by The Patri0t 16 March, 2007 | (7) Comment

It’s just sad… You for heaven’s sake don’t treat your Chief Justice like this. Thanks to Teeth Maestro for posting it. Quoting from his blog. Keep the good work up bro.

Ever since the attack on the Judiciary in Pakistan, last Friday (post) practically the entire country is abuzz with a number of confusing questions of which probably the least addressed is when does Pervaiz Musharraf enforce a proper Martial Law. In my opinion Pakistan is already under a full fledged Martial Law since 1999 but disguised as a torjan horse titled Enlightened Moderation.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry,

A number critics say that it just can’t happen, while many believe that martial law is inevitable. I belong the latter group, in my opinion Musharraf had been buttering the people of Pakistan for the past year in preparations to make them swallow the presidency pill for another five years. The stage was prepared when he successfully masterminded a thumbs up from Uncle Sam, it was during his US-Book Tour visit that Pakistan went through an interesting roller coaster ride, I had protested back then that the simple revelation of Pakistan being bombed back into the stone ages should have been enough for any decent Pakistani leader to walk off, but not Musharraf as he was their for a more personal reason far more important then Pakistan. Millions back home reacted simply How Dare They?. It was actually Musharraf who expertly handled the ABC interview threw out this ball-busting comment to force George Bush onto the back foot and then was able to pull out the trump card right from the grasp of Uncle Sam getting himself a sexy peck on the cheek and a pat on the behind for a job well done. Musharraf finished the cake with a hilarious gig with Jon Stewart where he displayed stand-up comedy type of showmanship but the icing was when he got Bush to publicly plug his autobiography on live TV, asking people to ‘Buy the Book’, literally a dream come true for any aspiring writer.

Breaking News: Police storms Media offices in Islamabad

Posted by The Patri0t 16 March, 2007 | (0) Comment

My blood is boiling right now. Police has stormed media offices of GEO News and their newspapers in Islamabad. They have already tortured and arrested their one journalist and are damaging their offices and using tear gas within their building. Information Minister was talking LIVE on GEO and saying this action was not necessary and I condemn it and that he will investigate who ordered this and the said person will be dealt with. I don’t think you will be able to do any thing Mr. Information Minister.

State owned television channel is busy producing media footage which are showing peaceful protests only and not where the Police has tried to disperse them. They claim every thing is peaceful and Police has allowed everyone to do any thing.

They surely were peaceful in early hours but not after Police tried to arrest Opposition leaders and party activists. This is BULL SHIT. Everyone can watch the real picture on Private news channels like ARY One World and Geo News. Salute to the private media who are telling the world what’s really happening in Pakistan right now.

Fans etc. won’t stop after Shutdown

Posted by The Patri0t 15 March, 2007 | (1) Comment
Update 16-3-07: Brother reported that MODEM is not working. I ofcourse did not check the Modem after this problem. I knew right away it was modem, I removed it, start the system and shut down, it happened! The problem was gone then I inserted Modem again, the problem was no longer there. Weird problem.

I had contacted Asus too, I got reply after a day telling me I should back up the data and format/install Windows XP again. LoL. It’s solved anyways.

OK…As if I did not have enough problems already. So last night, after modding the case and setting the CPU with Thermal Take Big Typhoon on it, I turn on, everything runs fine but when I shut down, I hear the hard disk cutting off but everything else is running. The Motherboard, all fans and the UV lights on the casing too. Weird…

I tried to search Google, till now I have found out only that in such cases replacing the PSU helped or replacing the Mobo helped but I don’t get it…Why did it happen? I will change PSU soon anyways, not able to find the one I want here so…

Let me know please if any one of you has a solution to this.
