Happy 15 Shaaban

Posted by The Patri0t on September 9, 2006

I know I am late, few reasons for that. In village right now, last now and even till now you can hear the fireworks, crackers etc. I did not hear any AK-47’s firing in air and that too heard this morning just an hour ago. I do not understand the reason for them doing this. Ofcourse I know the explanation which they provide for it, perhaps it is true too. For me it’s not. Not because first we should make ourselves better in all regards and once we are, we will not be doing fireworks on this day but praying to Allah, doing aa’maal, not hurting people. The fireworks continued till late night, and happened whole night actually after sometime. It was not good of them to do that in the middle of the night like say at 2:00 am. People get disturbed because of it…

So, they will be gone by now in groups for sending letters to our Imam (as). I got the thought of writing one too but then I did not, I could not. I am not saying any thing against sending words to our Imam (as). All I want to say is we are living among hypocrites and I don’t want to join those. There’s a scholar, who feels shame in walking from his home to the Imam Bargah. How else do you explain it with? His home is only 5-10 mins walk to the Imam Bargah but he will not come if you don’t send a vehicle to him. I understand if it’s late night but why can’t you do that in the day light?

I can claim that we are living among people, the kind of people who won’t be able to see you even eat anything. If they get a chance, they will snatch every single bit of what you are eating.
They are jealous of what you are. They cannot see of what you are. They always look forward for a chance where they can take everything away from you. They forget it’s Allah All Mighty who blesses a person with everything, then why do they hold bad about a person blessed by Allah with everything. It’s no baseless allegation, it has happed enough with our family. Will Imam (as) listen to such people, whose hearts are black and full with filth.

Pakistan…Our country, I don’t know what will become of it, if it continous to go like this. I had to go through such a pain when all I wanted to send was send a few Dollars to a friend in the US. There was no one who said they will do it for me except this one company. I will not name them,
all I will say is there office is in front of Rescue 15 office in my city. Please don’t go to them ever.
First the Manager says the amount you are sending will disappear in the way. He joked about how much it was. I said it’s enough. He after sometimes says he can’t do it because it’s not much. He asked me to go and do it in another city where they have got their main branch. I said give me number of that main branch, I want to ask them if I can send it from your office or not. He says, “What do you mean? I told you I will not send, so I will not send. Now even if someone from America calls me, I will not send the money.” I was really pis*** off to hear this. In other words, he could have easily sent the money for me. But he did not want to go through all the hastle & you know what. I caught him lying to his friend, his friend because he was being nice nice with him while talking, he would have not listened to him in the first place if he was not his friend. So this young guy comes and asks him to send a fax to Dubai for him. The Manager says he can’t do it because the main branch have locked his fax and he cannot send the fax to anywhere outside Pakistan. The young guy was not much literate I think. He insisted the Manager, Manager says ok, give me the number. You know what he did. He pressed all the numbers and clicked SP (Speaker Phone) button so the number dials. We all sitting there heard a noise, well, if you have used Dial-Up, you will hear a screeching noise when you are connected and you pick up the telephone. It was that noise! The Manager did this once more and said to the guy. See, I told you, it’s locked and I cannot send the fax. If you want to send the fax anywhere in Pakistan, let me know. He lied to his friend so greatly. The young fella ofcourse did not know what happened. He did not know what the noise was about. I understand, perhaps the Manager was not allowed by his office to use the fax for personal things BUT he could have just told that to his friend instead of making such a plot and fooling him.

I was already in a bad mood when we happened to visit this Bank and meet a friend there. He mentioned a guy whose name starts with, “Mohammad”. His money has been jammed. I think the money was transferred from some foreign country. The money was jammed because of his name. He said it will be first investigated and then the money issued. I was so so so much disappointed and got in a very very bad mood for the rest of the day. You can see the reason your self. I don’t know where else is this happening. But it is happening in PAKISTAN, a country meant to be for muslims! ALAS… A muslim country and it’s so called politicians and Generals are not even able to defend the name of their Prophet Mohammad (SAWW). I can call this blasphemy against our Prophet (SAWW). They took the world on their heads when a few cartoons of our Prophet (SAWW) were printed. Is this matter any different? They are making you suspect people who happen to have same name as the Prophet (SAWW). They are making you say guys with names of your Prophet (SAWW) can be terrorists…or in other words. NAUZUBILLAH…………………..

Frustrated

Posted by The Patri0t on September 2, 2006

Frustrated because I needed something for computer and I am not able to find it in whole Pakistan. Frustrated because there is no website on the Internet with computer hardware which will ship to Pakistan or even accept Pakistani credit card. Frustrated because the “BASIC” hardware like Motherboard and RAM which I want to get is not available in Pakistan!

Frustrated because “Western Union” has listed a Bank in our city saying it will also SEND MONEY but when I visited the said Bank. They said we don’t have this facility and that Western Union guys are mistaken. Frustrated, frustrated, frustrated because of other things too which I am not making public so shoo away :p, LOL, ok wait wait, first comment then do as you wish.

This money related transactions are really very serious issue with me. If not any thing else, why not accept Pakistani credit cards online? My brother was in UK and he was able to use the Pakistani credit card for shopping there freely even on Internet there! But look at these huge Companies like Paypal and Western Union. Paypal does not offer their services for Pakistan and Western Union according to them DOES but I doubt how many AGENT locations they have mentioned on their website for Pakistan will be actually receiving and sending money through them.

I do not understand this behaviour from such companies. This is no more year 1999 where credit card fraud can be done easily. This is 2006 damn it! We have to call every time we make an online transaction by credit card for our own safety. This option can be removed forever but brother will not remove it and he is right by doing so. Whenever we want to make an online transaction we can just call them, they take our details and activate it. Even if a hacker has all information, it will be useless for him because the credit card without online activation will not be accepted anywhere, not even for verification purposes!

As far as terrorism is concerned, this has nothing to do with terrorism. Am I paying a terrorist in USA if I want to buy some computer products? Those who have made mind of sending money for illegal purposes will do it anyways. No one will be able to stop them, then why make US suffer? I am even told by someone that even if you make a bank draft for within Pakistan the bank guys ask alot of questions regarding whom are you sending this money to and why. He told me a funny incident where he wanted to send a bank draft for a magazine subscription to Karachi. They were three hundred rupees only, around five US dollars and he was questioned such stupidly by the guys there plus they did not even know a jack about a popular magazine in Pakistan. If they decide to ask questions then they should also have a list on hand atleast of such things like a magazine for example but oh well…

BTW, the 150 year old Western Union does not even have an online helpdesk or online e-mail address for cases like mine or for complaints. Just look at this page of theirs.

https://wumt.westernunion.com/asp/helpContactUs.asp?country=PK

They only have e-mail addresses for “Media Relations” and “Investor Relations”. Where is the customer support or may be it has got something to do with the “PK” ahead of COUNTRY.

A poem for Lebanon

Posted by The Patri0t on August 9, 2006

Dr. Shahid Masood on behalf of ARY One World was the first journalist to travel to Lebanon and report what was happening there. Followed by Hamir Mir of GEO News. I was watching one of his program few days ago on GEO News, which he sent from Lebanon. He said a very beautiful poem of Faiz Ahmed Faiz from 1982, when he had written it about the War that time. It surely fits in for now too.

I recommend downloading the audio file. The quality might not be too good as I recorded it from TV with my Sony Ericsson W800i, but one can hear it easily.

Faiz Ahmed Faiz's 1982 Poem

Roman Urdu
Mere dil mere musafir
Huwa phir se hukm saadir
Keh watan badar hon ham tum
Dain gali gali sadaaen
Karain rukh nagar nagar ka
Keh surgaagh koi paaen
Siyyar-e-naama bar ka
Har ek ajnabi se poochain
Jo pata tha apne ghar ka
Sare kooe na-a-shnaaeyaan
Hamain din se raat karna
Kabhi es se baat karna
Kabhi us se baat karna
Kahoon kis se main ke kia hai
Shab-e-gham buri balaa hai
Hamain yeh bhi tha ghaneemat
Jo koi shumaar hota
Hamain kia bura tha marna
Agar ek baar hota

Hats down for all the Media personnel in Lebanon, the one’s who are sending back the true images.

A tiny bit of ME

Posted by The Patri0t on August 4, 2006

I don’t know what to name this one, so I will just name it to what I saw on my friends Blog. Ali Imran and Zuljenah’s. So here I go.

* Alone, or with people?

Alone mostly but if I am in company of people whom I get along with, then it’s fun too. When not studying, I am either in front of my laptop or out or watching tv or talking to mom.

* Summer, or winter?

Summer ofcourse, though I love to get in a warm bed which is the case in winters. I hate it when I get flue and all that, so no to winter. Love summer, esp. the part when rain start, I don’t know what that is called. Must be a particular word for it. I hate one thing about summer though, lol, can’t tell here.

* Black, or white?

White for clothes black for others.

* Observe, or get along from the very first moment

Observe, I will be in function and doing nothing else than standing in a corner or sitting somewhere. I don’t go ahead with ‘TALKING’ first.

* Clown, or Drama (Queen/King)?

Clown…I am not sure about this question though, lol, so please explain it to me. I will update it accordingly if necessary. Ali Imran is online so I’ll ask him. Ok, asked. I leave this to my friends. They will fill it in. I think mix of both.

* A Hummer, or A BMW convertible car

I would love to own a BMW one day. If I ever bought it, I might feel bad though, for it does cost a fortune.

* Loyal or………

Loyal, very. Loyal to everyone. Expect the same from some but never from few others.

* Favorite Material Posession….

My Laptop *wub* (If U kno the inside story, U’ll know Y :p)

* When I look at someone, the first thing I see is….

Face ofcourse, I don’t usually look at the person from distance. As in if I know I am going to meet THAT person, I am coming from a lil distance, I don’t look much at that person while I reach him. Look at the person when I am near. I think I feel the person when we have the eye contact. Never make eye contact with ‘STUPIDs’, can’t explain what that mean.

Incase of *HIJABIS* around, lool, don’t ask! Eye contact only once in the start, after that, almost impossible for an eye contact. I just look at something while talking.

* My life is….

I think I have no right to complain about my life. Alhamdolillah, Alhamdollilah, Allah has blessed me so much. . . But there are alot of things I would have loved to change in my life if I could somehow. Allah knows the best indeed, perhaps me getting all messed up in life, like now, is meant to lead me somewhere good and better?

I would tag all those who’s Blogz are in my list, some of them have already put up this. Others should if they feel like it. No forcing =P, and ofcourse just consider yourself TAGGED if you feel like commenting about your self in above manner.

Cooking & more

Posted by The Patri0t on July 26, 2006

Spent a little time in kitchen. Prepared a lil food, it was pure non-veg thing so those who are going to do yukk now should please skip this paragraph. I just grabbed a magazine and found it to be the most simple thing to cook, so I decided for it. It’s name if you translate from Urdu will become, “Friend Mutton” but the funny thing is they did not mention frying it in oil and the little more funny part is the fact that I don’t know names of spices in English so I won’t be telling the recepie, or I should in Urdu and if someone here can translate it for me, I will be thankful!

Ingredients:

  • Mutton; cut into little pieces - 1 KG
  • Garam Masala - 1 and a half table spoon
  • Adrak Lehsan; mashed - 1 table spoon
  • Lal mirch - 1 table spoon
  • Zeera; mashed - 1 tea spoon
  • Dhanya; mashed or powder - 1 tea spoon
  • Salt - To your taste
  • Water - 1 and a half cup
  • Yogurt - 1 cup

How to:

  • Say Bismillah & pray for me without whom you would not know how to cook this. =P
  • Put water in a utensil
  • Put all the spices except yogurt in it and let it boil a little while mixing the spices in water with your hand (joking!), with a spoon ofcourse!
  • After it starts bubbling =P, put the mutton pieces in it & stir it with the spoon so the pieces are properly dipped in it
  • Leave it now until the water in it dries then put Yogurt in it and FRY. . . Now I wanted NOT to put any oil in it but I was told by 30 years of experience in kitchen matters, my dear mom that it won’t FRY without oil *blush* so yeah do put oil before yogurt and let it FRY a little after that put yogurt and let the yogurt DRY.

That sounds like an awful cook above! But the result came out as surprise for me. I was not expecting such a taste, it was yummy! I cooked it for all ofcourse but mom insisted I should eat it MORE, not that it was not tasty for them but she is always like that now. Hehe. *wub*

Enough of unexperienced and awful cooking. I know I have said alot of times that I am working on a few articles. You are not seeing any thing till now because I need to think long before it gets done. Draft sort of is ready but I want to make sure it’s good enough before I show it here so just wait & how many of you are interested in such boring articles anyways? It’s clearly visible in last entry =P.

Few of you must know what happened to shia women here few weeks ago. They were killed by ‘Shia Haters’. They were just teachers and nothing else. Those idiots did not even leave the little kids who were with them, killed them also. Mom told me just yesterday that one of the woman was pregnant that’s even more awful. . .Plus one of them had called her husband in village and asked him to come as they are feeling danger but the coward did not do any thing and said night is coming up, we will see in morning. He should have contacted the village elders and went with them. Same village guy is member of provincial assembly, his brother lives in village and is usually ready to do such sort of a thing. The husband should have asked him for help, they could have made it there even in night with a few pickups, guards and even police! *sigh* But it’s all over now.

Do any of you get “ARY One World”; the news channel? I am big fan of Dr. Shahid Masood’s “Views on News” on this channel. I am further a fan of them now for the fact that he has made it to Lebanon like around 9 days ago! He is doing one program daily from Beirut, loving it! Western Media might be manipulated and they might not be showing the real images but Dr. Shahid is sending some real images and really heart breaking. Hezbullah’s spokesman, I forgot his name, a young guy, I think “Hassan Rayaz”, he took all the media on a little tour of the severely hit areas of Beirut. Blocks of buildings destroyed, alot of people mighe be still under the rubble as rescue workers can’t work. The Israelis hit same area all the time! Even if someone was hiding underground, under those buildings, they would be trapped now. . . Hezbullah’s spokesman was asked if he wanted to say anyting to the Pakistanis. *wub* You know what his answer was. He said greetings to the great people of Pakistan who have always stood with Lebanon in the past and have helped us alot then he goes like we love you. Pakistan can’t openly support Lebanon, we are in a mess our selves, but atleast we are better than the Arab kings. . .

Anyone know “Abdul Sattar Edhi”? He is a social worker in Pakistan and I think has the largest network of ambulances around the world. His name has even hit the world records book. Love him for his work, he lives a very simple life and I hope I am not exaggerating his personality here, he has no new clothes, he still wears the ones which he had in his marriage!

Today not just in Pakistan, but in the Muslim world, Abdul Sattar Edhi has earned a reputation as being one of the most selfless and honorable human beings today. Despite his fame and reputation he continues to lead a simple life, he wears traditional Pakistani Shalwar Kameez, of which he only owns one or two, and he owns one pair of slippers, which he has supposedly worn for the last twenty years. This is despite the fact the Edhi Foundation has a $10 million budget, out of which he takes nothing for himself. His son Faisal once stated that when the Foundation was setting up in Afghanistan, local staff had purchased chairs for guests and the press when a new center was being opened, when Edhi arrived he was furious because the money that was spent on the chairs could have been used to help people, that night he slept on the clinic floor with the ambulance drivers.

He has reached Lebanon in such a time! Dr. Masood showed him yesterday and had a little interview with him. Eidhi wanted to buy 100 trucks of supplies from Damascus and then send to Lebanon but he was told by Embassy of Pakistan that trucks and oil tankers were bombed by Israelis, so that’s not a good choice right now. He has given money to Pakistani Embassy, so if a Paki comes to get out of Lebanon, he will be helped there.

You must have noticed “Supporting Lebanon” banner on my site. I figured out a simple way to put it up there, it looks fine in Firefox but not in Internet Explorer. I am working on a “javascript” version of it, after which I will post it here, for anyone to take. You can even now take if it you have experience with HTML and CSS, just search through the Source. I will also change background of current theme today sometime insha’Allah.
