camuser: You need to visit their official website and download Lossless Codec from them. Use that, turns out perfectly for me. No lags or anything.

I've tried cam studio but for reasons that I guess are related to the codec pack on my computer the performance was HORRIBLE. I tried a number of options, recording and encoding simultaneosly, recording uncompressed than compressing, the above at various levels of quality and couldn't get anything decent. I've heard other people have had success, so I blame it one my codecs (the computer is pretty good, I run Maya all the time) but just couldn't figure out how to get CamStudio to perform.

I have that software. i will give it a 9.6 out of 10 rating because of its small size and good speed and it is very easy to use.
