MNP (Mobile Number Portability) has arrived in Pakistan? I don’t see where it is. I read in a news paper it will start after 25th March and now on Internet I find out it has already started on 23rd March? If it has then why do I not see any thing related to MNP on Mobile Network’s Websites? I have only sighted MNP related FAQ procedure and request form on Instaphone’s website! I guess all Networks will have the same FAQs so take a look at it…
Mobile Number Portability - Instaphone
I have been waiting desperately for this to arrive since I am using Ufone right now and frankly speaking it’s a messy service. I can count more than 20 sometimes while trying to REDIAL a number or sending an SMS since their systems capacity does not seem to hold the number of users they have. MNP will surely make all of the Companies such as Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor, Warid and Instaphone to upgrade their system capacity plus offer good rates too. (Which reminds me there’s a User Awareness Alert, which is a pop up AD actually, issued on PTA’s Website, better check that out!)
A few of FAQs which I have been interested in knowing ever since I heard about MNP arriving to Pakistan are as under;
Q.12 Porting Fee = Standard pricing for new connection
Q.13 How long will it take = 4 working days - excluding hold time - HMM, HOLD TIME???
Q.24 How often can I port = Gotta wait for 60 days!
Q.30 As said in this Q, better reach a ZERO on your Prepaid before porting. (In my case use the SMS offer ASAP).
I think I will not be able to avail this feature YET since I gotta change the address of my Ufone connection and it says it won’t happen if a change of address/name request has been filed or happened in last 60 days.
Good luck to all those who try this. Please post your comments. Thanks! ![]()
