What is taking Paypal so long to introduce their services for Pakistan? Online Banking has started already here and there have been laws too regarding Internet and what not. We do need Paypal’s payment services since it’s reliable and affordable too. Everyone can easily use the said service.
Sending money to someone abroad or someone abroad sending money to Pakistan is always pain. I remember ordering a USB kit from a shop in China, I had no other choice but a TT and that was costly. I had to pay a fee equal to the amount I was sending… Other options for sending money to Pakistan are through Western Union and Money Gram. Never tried International Money order. UBL also offers sending money to Pakistan from abroad, they have very little presence in other countries though. There are other Private Companies working too, like Maliks Exchange but it was no use for me and yeah the “DESI” style of sending money is always there. You pay someone in Dubai, that someone calls his brother back home and gives the said amount to the person for whom it is meant.
I really am wondering what is taking Paypal so long to arrive here. We have got Online Banking now, not all banks but a few, UBL - I have personally used their netBanking and it’s “AWESOME”. They offer managing multiple Bank accounts, debit cards, transfering funds to any UBL Account holder in Pakistan - I hope they offer this for all Banks very soon, if you want to send money to someone in Pakistan who does not have a UBL Account then you can send them an eCheque, just write their name and address, set an amount and send it. The person will be sent a Cheque on their name through Courier. Plus I feel it is very secure, you will know that the moment you try to login there.
I tried to see if Paypal has registered any domains for Pakistan. I hit a few results, paypal.pk is registered by Paypal! Bad news for Paypal though, not really bad since they can WIN over the guys owning “THEIR” domain names. Yes, paypal.com.pk is registered to “Mr.Tanveer Aslam of Bahawalpur!” and paypal.net.pk is registered to “CyberCottage of Lahore”. I guess these guys were thinking of selling off their domain name to Paypal when it wanted to arrive in Pakistan? or something else perhaps. They will be either paid by Paypal or own3d by them. I am listing paypal.pk ONLY. The said domain was registered in January 2006. A year now, c’mon Paypal!!!

I emailed them a year back but their response was that they can’t start their service becoz Pakistan system is toooooooooooooooo complicated, which off course is not that complicated as they think…..

Yeah I contacted them too and got the same response as mentioned by Aalishan. Some say it’s a Israeli company and so it can’t be registered in Pakistan. But I know one thing for sure that Paypal has been created by an Indian just as Hotmail. But I think, there is more to it than meets the eye. There are a lot many Pakistani who are distressed because they can’t pay for rapidshare premium account. As a matter of fact, they can get rapidshare account but it would cost them extra 300 rupees. I have myself purchased it three times using “https://rsreseller.com” and then using KAGI for one month accounts.
i think there is some kind of pakistan based monopoly that is not letting this service come and steal their business(u know well how pakistanis are). Otherwise, the paksitani banking culture has changed and most of it has been converted into online and the rest is under progress. Hope, down the line in 2 or 3 years, paypal would be operational in Pakistan.

Well, I think the main problem is Pakistani people. They very well about how citizens are here. I have been in the web development and hosting industry for the last 10 years and I have faced a lot of problems with money sending and receiving. Pakistani IP blocks are fully blacklisted and block. Many large industry websites do not accept even credit card payments from us by just checking our IP in the background. sites like eNom, paypal, ebay are never to work with Pakistan. when we have to pay funds to eNom, we have to change our IP to any other country’s IP then eNom accepts because they do not see us Pakistan from the different IP. I don’t know who has done these bullshits. there are just a few people who does crime and the whole Pakistan is blacklist because of them…

Paypal come to india but still not arrive in pakistan, if you are a seller then buy a merchant account like ccnow.com, its also accept paypal.
if your are a buyer then then its a problem , specailly for Ebay buying / selling , we must need paypal account.
Ebay and Paypal please come to pakistan!

Paypals wants to get in pakistan, but they need a domain paypal.com.pk and paypal struggling from since 5 years to get this domain but a guy in tando adam khan which is poor little farmer called chacha karmo time peice, he register this domain on his for 10 years on fake creditcard now they asking $5 billion to paypal for this domain and paypal said “if we do bussiness in pakistan more then 150 years we can’t earn $5 billion from here” So now they negotiating with farmer chacha karmo… So guys please find that chacha in tando adam khan and request to him to drop this doamin and free the pakistan from hundi and T/T. or wait another 5 years for till expire this doamin!

Yaar i think paypal is not an isreali because paypal is available also in Saudi Arab and UAE too, these all are big toppies :p we should force banks and GOVT IT Sector to get paypal into pakistan..

Use 2checkout.com for paypal payments, 2checkout process paypal + creditcard payments for you so now you can receive paypal payments through 2checkout.com, googlecheckout is also comming but it takes long time.
I think Western Union give pressures on our gov to don’t get paypal because if paypal comes in pakistan then western union business will down they invest billions in pakistan.
Next reason is i think maybe its americans pressure that don’t send paypal to pakistan because of MissUse of paypal due to jihadi or islamic donations for anti usa groups. etc etc.
3rd reason i think banks want there hold on local/international trasactions because if paypal comes no one go to bank for low amount payments.. like for bank drafts, t/t or online money sending through banks, so if paypal comes, there is much effect on local banks business.
the last reason i think go to baba bulbul walay and ask them please retrieve the paypal.com.pk domain from chacha karmo timepeice.
