AMD in Pakistan

Posted by The Patri0t 14 February, 2007 |

AMD was on high side of things until release of Intel Core 2 DUO Processors. They had done very well in sales and everything in most of the countries EXCEPT Pakistan. I feel like AMD did nothing to get hold of the market in Pakistan because last time I inquired, it was I think June last year, there was only ONE Reseller for AMD in a city near ours and no one offered AMD in our city. People over here do want to get computers but most of them want to save money too, that is where AMD could have won over Intel in the past…

I have noticed that after release of Intel’s Core 2 DUO Processors and aggressive price cuts by both AMD and Intel, AMD finally woke up and wants to get hold of things over in Pakistan. Intel has dominated Pakistan’s computer market since years, they can’t be beaten any soon. Plus resellers/dealers will have a hard time selling AMD to their customers because everyone seem to have “Intel is the best” on their mind. It is very true, they look for “Genuine Intel” everywhere! So much that they don’t consider Intel’s Celeron processors “Genuine Intel”!!! Both are of course made by Intel and are not fakes, but try telling that to someone here.

AMD’s official Distributors for Pakistan, IDE@L Systems/IDE@L Distribution Line is “SPAMMING” Intel’s dealers. Yes, you heard that right, they are SPAMMING! and few weeks ago, they offered FREE Motorbike on purchase of AMD Bundle [Asus Mobo+AMD Processor], today there is yet another offer which might make a few resellers greedy. They are offering Car, Laptop, Motorbike, TV, Computer and a cell phone based on the number of AMD Bundles you buy from them!

Intel is going to have a little hard time with their new Core 2 DUO’s too. Reason is simple, the folks in Pakistan, they are so much “Computer Literate :p” that they will prefer Intel Pentium 4/Core DUO 3.4 Ghz over Intel Core 2 DUO 1.86 Ghz! No, not because the first one is cheap but because the first one is 3.4 Ghz and second is 1.86 Ghz!!! Yeah, trying selling that to people here…

Oh and Good Luck AMD!!! and please find your own resellers, don’t SPAM Intel one’s!

AMD se achi chip making or koi kar hi nahin sakta
no one can outclass than AMD with suitable low cost :)
i am pakistani and i found that peoples are crazy about intel dont know is it faster with our havey cost lol just want more GHZ.
one thing is important the resellers of intel are shit in pakistan they usually make noise that AMD is heater lol coz they dont know intels … pentium 4 Pentium D and Pentium EE is todays heater :)
AMD using Cool & Quiet Technology with 2000mhz Hyper Transport bus that can perform outclas cool and quiet Intels Hypertranspor is slow and make processor too much heat .
but any one who use AMD one time dont replace it with intel
Core2 duo is good chip from intel but isnt perform outclass than AMD
AMD gona Launch its Altair series …
with HT.. 4000MHZ with quad core 512kb each core L2- 2mb L3 -4mb/6mb
with direct conect architechure :)
AMD ROCKS NOW AND IN FUTURE TOO
MAYBE AMD GONA BUY INTEL
:) INSHALLAH

AOA

THE THING IS THAT THE PEOPLE DONOT KNOW WHAT “AMD” HAS TO OFFER . THEY ARE WASTING MONEY ON INTEL AS THE NEXT GENERATION OF SOFTWARE WORK ON 64-bit PLATFORM AND MANY SOFTWARES ARE ALREADY IN !!! BUT INTEL ONLY SUPPORTS THEM , THAT IS IT WILL ONLY WORK WITH 64-Bit PROGRAMS IF THE PROCESSOR ONLY WANTS TO , IT WILL NOT WORK WITH ALL PROGRAMS. SO MAYBE NOT AT PRESENT BUT IN NEAR FUTURE THERE WILL BE ON LY “AMD”

Yes AMD rocks with its intuitive design and great performace but the problem is that only people with technical education and using their own thinking (instead of blindly following others in choosing intel)can appreciate this fact. Unfortunaltely we lack such people and to make the situation even worse such people can’t get components of their choice for their AMD based machine in Pakistan and even if some good piece of hardware of their choice is available it costs 3000-4000 rupees more than its being sold online on sites like newegg.com. So to buy motherboard, processor and RAM of my choice I will have to pay almost 9000 extra ruppes. Even idlsys.com claiming to b there official dealer is doing this. You can view price of Athlon 5000+ on their site and its 13000 while newegg is selling it at 156$ i.e almost 9500. So is the case with good motherbaords that you have to pay almost 4000 extra. I know we cant get these things at the same price as offered on newegg.com but the profit margin should be reasonable while currently Its totally unfair. Even one dealer tried to sell me combo of a motherboard and processor at 15000 while its price was mentioned on idlsys.com as almost 4600+7600=12200.
Hope this situation will improve in pakistan.

 Yup you are right.AMD athlon x2 is much better than pentium D ,that is using old netburst archetecture. But you will not find many dealers in hafeez center that are selling amd Cpu and mobo.I have searched the whole of net(…well no whole but)and did not find a single online store that is shiping goods in pakistan.
Galaxy.pk is charging way too much on their website. An athlon X3600 cost 59$ on newegg which means about 3600 RS in pakistan but Galaxy.pk is selling it for 6800 RS.Same is the case with ASUS mobo M2N-SLI delux.
This is unbearable. So much profit is unjust. Please if any one from you know how to buy from Newegg. Please do share on this Blog.
Thanks.

Aslam-0-Alaikum
your all frinds are right. There is not compression between AMD and Intel. AMD is moretiem fast that Intell. Intell is only loss of money. I am using AMD since long time ago. First time i use AMD500 and after it i use Duran 1300, athlon 1600xp, athlon 1700xp, athlon 2200XP, athlon 2800XP, and now a days i bought 5600 x2. All these i used at home. But in office i used Intell 3GHz and higher. when i working on intell i feel that it is as slow as PI or PII. AMD not try to marketting in pakistan and here is no dealer of AMD. Someone brought it personely and sell them.

I purchased AMD Phenom 9500 X4 processor and other accesories n wasted lot of money on it about 20 days ago but its very upsetting to know that no any good mother board is available here in karachi for the above. I tried AMD dealer Ideal Systems, AGN and lot of other ditrbuters but nothing happened yet, they are just giving false hopes from 20 days that mother boards are coming tomorrow or day after tomorrow or after three days( only topi pahna rahe hain ). Can any one here help me to get phenom X4 compatible good mother board. Thanx

AoA,

Dear All, Its been quit a time since I have been convinced by one of my friends about AMD. Now, I am also about to buy AND assemble an AMD PC on my Own. I have decided to go for an “ATHLON X2 4800+” 2 GB of RAM (CORSAIR 800BUS) AND ALL OTHER THINGS RELATED BUT as I have read above few comments, I do agree that Galaxy.com.pk is quite an expensive one. They really grab a lot of margin in AMD products.
ANY HOW, I am about to Share my search regarding Motherboard PHENOM X4.

GIGABYTE: GA-MA78GM-SH2

I have just read a review in TOMS HARDWARE and this Motherboard was quite impressive even with its integrated VGA. It also have a PCI-express SLOT. IT HAS THE LATEST AMD/ATI GPU AND OVER CLOCKING ability.

in the end I don’t know either, WHERE TO BUY IT??? :-(

I have read above about NEWEGG.COM
CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN HOW CAN WE BUY THIS M-BOARD FROM NEWEGG.COM? IS IT SECURE AND WHAT IS THE EXACT PROCEDURE???

THANKS

I think for AMD Phenom 9500 X4 AM2+ support is required (not sure about MT/s exactly)

You can go to Asus website and see there specifications and cpu support list.
You may check other new boards on Asus website.

No doubt AMD has edge over INTEL in many fields with its stunning and over clocking techonlogy but when it comes to AMD’s marketing strategy, it is poor and one cannot find good motherboards for it in local market. I have a worst experience of ASUS motherboards for AMD processor. One can believe I have changed four mother boards in three years. I do not
find a durable mother board for my Athlon 64 socket 754. Not only this but there are not used AMD based machines in the markets like Regal or else. Even a high official of so-called sole importer of AMD in Pakistan IDEAL DISTRIBUTION LINE told me that they are not given a positive response against all these issues by AMD. If AMD wants to beat INTEL in Pakistani market then it has to consider the marketing problems and satisfy the needs of customers by providing them good motherboards and accessories on reasonable prices.

All,

I had a really BAD experience with AMD. I bought an AMD (754) 2800+ and ASUS motherboard 3-years back. I admit that it was the best gaming PC I ever had but due to lack of proper support from the retailer and changing motherboards 2-3 times I have finally turned my head back to Intel. I still have the processor with me locked in my draw….
But one has to admit that the new Core 2 Duo architecture from Intel is much better than AMD X2 and Phenom series, I am not trying to market Intel, but this is the way things are.

Good New Guys! Check the Ideal website. They are not selling AMD any more (i think). HELL only Intel systems on the website. No what can u expect

September 12, 2008

Well yes IDL is selling INTEL but they do sell AMD as well. Again same reason INTEL dominates the local market and perception of a common man. Nobody would like his motherboard to be in warranty claim for three or more times in a warranty period of three years. I am an AMD lover but my past experience forces me to switch to INTEL.

can anybody tell me the price of intel pentium4 in pakistan?

February 28, 2009

I’m an intimate member of a couple of online forums, and all their members living in North America and Europe always speak positively of AMD. Their chips are low cost, and just as good as Intel’s. The problem here however, is that Intel is completely dominant over the CPU market, and few people even know if something called “AMD” even exists. One member from the Phillipines on the online forum said Intel was in a similar position in Phillipines back in the 90s, but that slowly changed. So I’m positive that this change will also come to Pakistan, slowly, but surely. Even though Intel still has a firm grip here, AMD CPUs are now starting to trickle through. Once people buy them, and spread their good word, I’m sure they’ll become more popular.

As for me, I fell prey to the Intel trend :( I brought an Intel E2160 @ 1.8GHz, when I could have got an AthlonX2 4000+ for similar money (2.1GHz). And while it is true that AMD CPUs are not as good as the C2Ds for overclocking, they are still fairly appreciable.

@ m.shafiq

You are going to be a fool for getting pentium 4 at this time, the dual cores are so cheap.

BTW can anyone tell me the list of AMD dealers in Pakistan I am liking AMD’s Athlon II and Phenom II dual core processors.

To hell with the AMD dealers, Don’t expect any sympathy from em. They ll stab you in the back with the double price of AMD processors and motherboards. I went to galaxy and AGN and asked the price of Phenom II X3 720 and they told 17000 whereas this chip is being sold at newegg at 109$. Can you believe this sh**? And we say very proudly that the world is becoming a global village everything in world is coming closer. I think these are shopkeepers who spread these bad words about AMD and always recommend intel either it is fit budget of customers or not. Everything related to AMD is charged double here. And this is also being treated with ATi. I have been using Athlon X2 since 2007. and never got a complain about it, It works very well, Plays well and all of the about I am running this 2.2 GHz chip at 2.8 Ghz. Now tell me what is this is not this a good overclock? and it is still on stock cooling.

And global village my ass.

@Affan Khan

Sir when did you used the AMD processor in the 90s as there is no heat issues whats over in AMD chips in X2/X3/X4 Athlon2 /Phenom/Phenom2 kindly check out the latest technology website which covers the reviews of this new processor, and this all temperature issues are only related to the vendors and the users which intially used this chips in athlon XP era when intel also heats up.

Hi, to all the “”"Lovers”"” of AMD’s product.
No doubt! AMD produced good technology first, but they didn’t market thier products properly in PAK.
and the best thing about INTEL is their marketing stretigy.
Intel has much big variety in PROCESSOR and MOTHERBOARD.(From homeuser till enthusiast)
As far as non availblity of AMD’s products is concerned, this is not the shopkeepers and distributors mistakes,
and I am an INTEL user, from Celeron processor till i7.
No doubt AMD is good too. Sorry “WAS GOOD TOO” Bcoz Intel’s i7 is here.
There’s is no competition between Intel’s i7 technology and AMD’s obselete products.
Lolz :D
Infact the famous APPLEs are now using Quad and I7 (lynnfield and bloomfield) in thier products.
Do watch out.
INTEL is a BIG NAME, BIG MARKET, BIG TECHNOLOGY AND VARIET TOO.
Yes you all lovers can wait for AMD’s new technology.
KEPP WAITING……
Enjoy :)

I hope that AMD controls prices in the market. I have seen the Athlon II X3 at $75 at new egg while in Pakistan it is around Rs.14000 DOUBLE THE PRICE. I really want to build a computer with the X3 because i cant afford C2DUO. One Last thing INTEL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMD please take notice of that.
