I have an XP media center box using matrix RAID with an 0302 BIOS and the Asus BIOS update tool says there are no updates available - clearly that's not correct.

I'd like to update the BIOS but comments above seem to suggest that that my machine would no longer boot since the BIOS update would mean the boot-time drivers for the ICH8R would be out of date? How on earth do I update them? Can I do so without a machine reinstall?

Also can people confirm that all of the updates above are cumulative and whether I'll need to reset the CMOS as indicated by notes attached to 0711.

Mike,

IDE does not work whit RAID on the PB5. Regardless of if its the J-Micron Intel RIAD. You need a SATA CD.

I started out with a P5B, but upgraded to a deluxe to be able to run Intels RAID which allows RAID5 and using the internal SATA connectors.

I really wonder who tought the J-Micron solution will be usefull and widely used, as you can only hook up a second drive on the external SATA port.

So dont go for the plain P5B if you're thinking of a permanent RAID setup.
