Going to Asus’s downloads website and then finding the appropriate download is a slow and somewhat painful process so I have setup direct download links to all BIOS versions of Asus P5B Deluxe. The list is now arranged as the latest BIOS version on top and so on; you don’t have to scroll down anymore to get the latest BIOS version.

I am just linking to the BIOS versions available on Asus’s servers. I will not be responsible for any damage or loss that might be caused due to the BIOS upgrade procedure. If you have not done BIOS upgrade before then I suggest you consult someone who can do it properly & here’s a warning from Asus; consider it from my side too.

Please leave a comment if you like the effort =)

Please note, BIOS update is only recommended when experiencing technical difficulties with your system, And is not recommended to be performed regularly.

I just built a new desktop using:
ASUS P5B Delux/WiFi MOBO
CPU is Intel Core 2 6700 @2.66GHz
4 GB of Kingston DDR2/800 RAM
CoolerMaster 600W iGreen Power Supply
Arctic Cooler Pro 7 CPU Fan

Board came with BIOS Rev 0614, I upgraded to 0804.
I am running Vista RTM and with 0614 I only saw 3 GB of RAM. After bios upgrade I now only see 2GB of
RAM. In BIOS setup there is 4096GB available. I also lost all WiFi capability after upgrade to 0804 (not that I really care).

I am looking for the Rosetta stone for what BIOS setting actually mean to better understand what I am changing and why. Any thought for getting this new system to recognize all 4GB would be greatly appreciated. (FYI: I have Advanced>North Bridge Chipset Configuration/Memory Remap Feature> ENBABLED after I a read a FAQ on the ASUS site)

I am running a core 2 duo E6400 on a Asus P5B Delux mobo, O/S WIN VIS Home Prem.
The problem is i cannot get the system to switch off ( fans and everything other than monitor still running), I have sdjusted the power settings to shut down but stilll no change.
I am forced to push the power switch in for 4 seconds in order to shut it down.
BIOS is up to date as is all drivers, just cant get to the bottom of it.
Any suggestions?

I had SAME issue, computer would NOT shut down, and found out the VERY hard way, it was due, to the new BIOS I had in it, having revised the firmare for The Intel RAID contoller. And, the floppy disk I used for install, was older, and had drivers for the OLDER Intel RAID bios firmware, “they have to work together. I had somebody in Scotland, find this out, after months of a battle, and, he posted it, I verified, it, I downloaded the newest chipset drivers, and did a “Make Disk” for the Intel RAID. And, ;-( had to resinstll, using the new floppy, A WIN! It worked, and shut down properly. I posted it in about 10 forums, trying to get the word around. Obviously, It did not get all the way around. I DID put it on the Asus P5B Deluxe forums. Though, it affects more than just that ONE board. EVEN afftects some AMD boards, for same reason. Just not intel chipset doing it, was the Nvid chipset doing the same thing. SO, you now know what to do. A guaranteed fix. AND, you CAN do it without reinstalling, but, you have to get all the files, and put them individually in the right place. AND, I did not know, HOW many places they were in. I used search, and replaced all the ones I found, did not work. SO, REINSTALL. AND WORK.

Good Luck Pard;

I was hoping for some of your expert insight into an issue that is just KILLING ME.

I bought a ASUS P5B motherboard. I updated to the current BIOS to 1202. I also applied the driver V1.17.8.1 for the JMICRON fix for RAID.

I have 2 250 GB seagate SATA II drives. I want to make them RAID 1. I know you use the e-sata port on one drive and the other internal RAID SATA port for the other. I can get it to making them RAID 1 and install Vista. No problems there (DVD drive works installing Vista just fine).

Problem is – the LG DVD drive I have is no longer visible through my computer or usable at all after Vista is installed and working as an OS. It looks like the JMicron JMB36X RAID Controller Driver makes any and all IDE devices (like my DVD optical drive) not work.

Help. Is this a problem with the BIOS or the JMICRON driver?

I know I am an idiot for not buying the P5B-E (yes, you can hit me), is there any way I can get this P5B to do RAID 1 and have the DVD working?

Help!

HellO!
I wondered if you guys knew how to disable USB power when the computer is switch off. I use a P5b Deluxe and I don’t want the connected usb devices not to be powered when the pc is off.

thanks

Mike,

IDE does not work whit RAID on the PB5. Regardless of if its the J-Micron Intel RIAD. You need a SATA CD.

I started out with a P5B, but upgraded to a deluxe to be able to run Intels RAID which allows RAID5 and using the internal SATA connectors.

I really wonder who tought the J-Micron solution will be usefull and widely used, as you can only hook up a second drive on the external SATA port.

So dont go for the plain P5B if you’re thinking of a permanent RAID setup.

I have an XP media center box using matrix RAID with an 0302 BIOS and the Asus BIOS update tool says there are no updates available – clearly that’s not correct.

I’d like to update the BIOS but comments above seem to suggest that that my machine would no longer boot since the BIOS update would mean the boot-time drivers for the ICH8R would be out of date? How on earth do I update them? Can I do so without a machine reinstall?

Also can people confirm that all of the updates above are cumulative and whether I’ll need to reset the CMOS as indicated by notes attached to 0711.
